Rivers and Streams:
There is no river or stream in the district. However, in Ngar-Parkar there are two perennial springs named Anchlesar and Sardharo as well as temporary streams called Bhetiani river and Gordhro river after the rainsThe district derives its name from Thar and Parkar but later became one word Tharparkar. district was re-notified as “Tharparkar” on 19-10-1993. The head quarter of this District Mithi,it is spread over an area of 19638sq: Kms. Having population of 914291 souls(1998)& bounded on the north by Mirpurkhas & Umerkot distcs, on east by Barmer and Jaisselmir districts of India, on west by dist: Badin and on south by Ran of Kutch.Dist: Tharparkar comprising of 4 talukas and 44 Union Councils.
